The role of germanium-doped fiber gratings
Long-period fiber gratings (LPGs) are applied in order to couple light between core and co-propagating cladding modes in single-mode optical fibers. For these applications, fibers with a high numerical aperture (i., fibers with highly germanium (Ge)-doped fused silica fiber. Using 334-nm light, we demonstrate side writing of Bragg gratings with an index change of ~10 (-4) in germanium-doped fibers. -
